Why the Body Communicates in so Many Ways and How to Recognize What it’s trying to Say

The body communicates in many ways, one of which is through signs and symptoms. Trauma impacts your mind and body, even if you are unaware, as detailed in our blog postIt Happens in Seconds. Given its proven that trauma can embed in the body if continually suppressed and not dealt with, it makes perfect sense why we should all want to learn to work through our own trauma while learning to understand and become the best version of ourselves.

If you are experiencing trauma or have recently experienced a traumatic event, it’s helpful for you to know some physical side effects of trauma and how it can show up in the body; otherwise, you might think you are going crazy or that there’s something else going on.

Here are some signs and symptoms to be aware of:

  • Memory problems
  • Tiredness
  • Sweating
  • Headaches
  • Dizziness or changes in vision
  • Face feels hot or flushed
  • Changes to how often you eat or what you feel like eating
  • Dry mouth or throat
  • Neck and shoulders tighten up or ache
  • Heat beats faster
  • Legs get shaky or tighten up
  • Diarrhea
  • Back tightens up or aches
  • Heartburn
  • Grind teeth
